Coach Ron Smith begins his 37th year as a teacher and coach in the state of Oklahoma. In 2000, Coach Smith was named the Oklahoma Football Coach of the Year after leading Edmond Deer Creek to the Class 3A State Championship. In 1997, Coach Marley played for Coach Smith in the OIL BOWL, where the Oklahoma High School All-Stars beat the Texans and set the scoring record which still stands today. Coach Smith and his wife of 37 years, Paula, have three children, Sarah, 33, James 32, and Paul 29. They also have SIX grandchildren, Maylie, Gavin, Connor, Ava, Brody, and Braylen. Coach Smith earned his Masters of Science from Oklahoma in 1978.
