#53 Change and Challenges   ch 16

The Age of Industry brought great change to American life.  It created a whole new kind of society- an urbanized (city) society.
Mark Twain said the prosperity of the era covered up a great deal of corruption in politics and society's robber barrons.

"What is the chief end of man?--to get rich. In what way?--dishonestly if we can; honestly if we must."
-- Mark Twain-1871
