6. Space Race   was a mid-to-late twentieth century competition between the Soviet Union (USSR) and the United States (USA) for supremacy in outer space exploration. The race was both ideological and technological, and it involved pioneering efforts to launch artificial satellites, sub-orbital and orbital human spaceflight around the earth, and piloted voyages to the Moon.

AKA "Kennedy's Corps"  were volunteers who helped third world countries with medical, sanitation, and education.

    1.  Fidel Castro (Communist dictator) 
  cut off diplomatic relations with the U. S. in 1961.

Russians put nuclear weapons in Cuba and Kennedy demanded that they be removed 13 day crisis

Berlin Wall   built by the Communists to keep East Berliners from escaping to the free world.

The Berlin Wall was constructed in 1961 to keep East Germans from fleeing their Communist state. For 28 years the wall symbolized tensions between the Soviet bloc and the West until it was torn down in 1989.
