Harmful

1. Americans enjoyed purer food and drugs, better service from gas and water utilities,

2.  greater participation (women) in the political process

1. Cost of progressive reform increased the role and powers of government

2. Founding fathers wanted limited government, progressives encouraged a shift to expanding the powers of government

3.  Christian evangelists spread the "gospel's good news" as they believed Christ would soon return 3. Progressives proposed a false solution by promoting evolution through education
Conclusion: Progressivism produced mixed results: one major theme was a gradual and continuous growth of the power of the federal government. Failure in race relations and Jim Crow laws.
