Cause of the Vietnam War

1.  Gulf of Tonkin incident:   1964 U.S. navy was allegedly attacked by Vietnam ships  in Gulf of Tonkin see map above

    Which specific groups hindered the cause? Doves, Communist sympathizers, hippies

    How did television newscasts influence public opinion? the negative aspects - the sudden attacks, heavy losses, U.S. government misleading the American people.

Ho Chi Minh Trail:

It was named by the Americans for North Vietnamese president Hồ Chí Minh. The communists called it the Trường Sơn Strategic Supply Route,

the Trail system was "one of the great achievements of military engineering of the 20th century."
